Tweet Me!
Celebs once used myspace as their form of social networking, then came facebook, and finally there is twitter. This is an example of the process of remediation. Remediation is when something feeds off something else and something new is made. Myspace, Facebook, and Twitter all have the same base idea but with new ideas and concepts. Myspace was more of a middle school trend, Facebook is more of a mature college student network and Twitter is a way of advertisment.Hypermediacy are types of visual presentations that continually reminds the viewer of the presence of the medium. Numerous times we've seen celebrities twitting their upcoming movie, series, or even commercials, they have used these tools to and we are aware where it is coming from. It's the cutting edge technology, the wow factor, that enable us to do such things which indeed return our attention to the medium. Another example of hypermediacy are the video responses on Facebook, because we are able to interact with the medium itself, we can rewind, pause or forward the video. There are so many options to response to the video, this includes commenting back either by text or by video. Furthermore, the latest invention that has got everyone buying the iPhone 4 or the MyTouch 4G, it is indeed being able to video call. FaceTime is amazing, and just plain F-U-N. It's almost like having that person in the same room as you are. And finally there's immediacy which is the process of bring one into direct or instant involvement. This is very true when it comes to these social websites. People see what these celebs do and have to follow them or in a way get attached to this involvement. Getting these social websites makes these people who follow have a direct communicating way with celebs and their advertising. Following is just another word for immediacy.
